Sharing and Caring out in the Community (The John Holt Cancer Foundation )
Our Sharing and Caring Out in the Community project will offer personalised support to people affected by cancer or their relatives. The project will help; patients,carers, family, friends, bereaved, lonely, isolated,children and young people.Our aims of the project if we win on People’s Millions are to bring comfort, security, friendship, one to one support, companionship, a feeling of less isolated and lonely. the feeling of normality, someone who cares and they will be there. We want to bring the services which we offer for FREE in our Cancer Support Centre out to people in their homes and the local community.This will improve their quality of life, provide independence, security and confidence with trusted volunteers. All our volunteers receive training & support. Activities will include Counselling, Holistic therapies, Home cooked food delivered, Sensory sessions, Companionship at appointments, Welcome Home pack from hospital, Comfort Chemotherapy Cuddles Bag, End of life & Family support and Home jobs such as Taking the dog for a walk, Mowing the grass, putting up a shelf, ironing or cleaning. Patients and relatives will fell less vulnerable and more confident. It will bring empowerment and a feeling of support.
If we win the People’s Millions vote we will be able to help and support a lot more people in their own homes, we will be able to reach out a hand for them to hang on to at a time when they need someone.
