LOST & Found (Lee O'Brien Solvent Trust (LOST))
Solvent abuse is a rising issue in Scotland, with the number of deaths increasing each year. Unlike other substances, solvents can, and do, kill on the first use, it does not need a lot, one sniff is all it takes.
The LOST & Found project will provide a drop in service across the East Of Scotland where users will get 1-2-1 dedicated support to help with their solvent abuse use. Education and awareness will also be provided to local communities to highlight the dangers of solvent abuse and the products that are involved. These products are everyday items in your house.
The drop in services will be in various locations across East Central Scotland, including Stirling, Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Leven, St Andrews and Falkirk. Unfortunately, there is no clinical support that can be offered to solvent abuse users like with other drugs, therefore help and support is the only option. The LOST & Found project will allow the Lee O’Brien Solvent Trust (LOST) to take users by the hand and guide them through, helping with their solvent abuse use and guiding them to a healthier and more active life.
Through the education service offered, LOST will educate any person who is wishing to know more about solvent abuse and the dangers involved, in particular at school. LOST will provide education to young people, parents, grandparents, communities and anyone else who wishes to know, with the aim to preventing members of the family and community from using them and letting other members of the community recognise if someone is.
Throughout the year, LOST will inform 50,000 people of the dangers of Solvent Abuse
