Bala Castle Street Playground (The Bala and Penllyn Sports and Recreation Association)

The Castle Street Playground committee was formed due to concern over the unsafe play equipment that existed in Castle Street at the time, and the distinct lack of play and recreation facilities in the northern part of town. Many parents and residents also had concerns about the disused piece of land and worried about children’s safety due to the distance they would have to walk to reach a playground.

Since the Committee’s formation, the group has been busy conducting research by consulting with the children and residents of Bala; contacting different play equipment companies for information, advice and quotes; and visiting larger playgrounds in nearby towns.

The aim of the project is to secure funding to install new play equipment and create a new open space for the residents of Bala and Penllyn and visitors to the town to enjoy.

The provision of a new playground facility and the chance for children and young people to play can positively improve their health and wellbeing as it would encourage a more active lifestyle. Through play, children develop and improve essential skills such as agility, balance, speed, strength and co-ordination which will, in turn, positively affect their health as well as their interpersonal skills. The chance for them to play together in a neutral space will also allow them to build friendships and develop their social skills.

Bala and Penllyn is a rural area in Gwynedd and a playground would help to decrease the rural isolation that many residents face by reducing families’ travel time to be able to enjoy a well-equipped playground. There is currently a lack of leisure facilities for children and young people in this part of town and the surrounding area so a playground would ensure that residents have similar access to facilities that neighbouring larger towns currently have e.g. Dolgellau.

Its location means that there is easy access to the playground as well as other sporting venues from schools, housing estates and the centre of town. This would result in the playground being enjoyed by many of the area’s children and young people, as well as visiting families for decades to come.

We would appreciate your support and vote on the day, which is the 26th November 2014.
Thank you!

Ffurfiwyd pwyllgor Parc Heol y Castell oherwydd pryderon ynghylch offer chwarae peryg a oedd ar Heol y Castell ar y pryd, a’r diffyg cyfleusterau chwarae a hamdden yn rhan gogledd y dre. Hefyd, roedd gan lawer o rieni a phreswylwyr bryderon am y darn o dir nad oedd yn cael ei ddefnyddio yn ogystal â phryderon am ddiogelwch plant oherwydd y pellter rhaid mynd i gyrraedd parc chwarae.

Ers i’r Pwyllgor gael ei greu, mae’r grŵp wedi bod yn brysur yn ymchwilio wrth ymgynghori â phlant a phreswylwyr Y Bala; cysylltu â nifer o gwmnïoedd offer chwarae am wybodaeth, cyngor a phrisiau; ac ymweld â pharciau chwarae trefi agos.

Nod y prosiect yw sicrhau arian i osod parc chwarae newydd a chreu ardal agored ar gyfer preswylwyr Y Bala a Penllyn, yn ogystal ag ymwelwyr i’r dref.

Bydd darparu parc chwarae newydd yn rhoi cyfle i blant a phobl ifanc i chwarae a bydd hyn yn cael effaith bositif ar iechyd a lles, a bydd yn annog ffordd o fyw mwy actif. Drwy chwarae, mae plant yn datblygu a gwella sgiliau hanfodol e.e. ystwythder, balans, cyflymder a chydsymudiad, ac o ganlyniad yn gwella’u hiechyd a’u sgiliau rhyngbersonol. Mae hefyd yn rhoi cyfle i blant chwarae gyda’i gilydd mewn ardal niwtral ac yn eu caniatáu i adeiladu cyfeillgarwch a sgiliau cymdeithasol.

Mae’r Bala a Penllyn yn ardal wledig yng Ngwynedd a buasai’r prosiect yn mynd yn bell i leihau’r unigedd gwledig mae llawer o breswylwyr yn wynebu gan leihau amser teithio i faes chwarae da. Mae diffyg cyfleusterau hamdden ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc yn y rhan yma o’r dref a’r ardal o’i gwmpas, felly buasai parc chwarae yn sicrhau bod gan breswylwyr fynediad tebyg i gyfleusterau mae trefi mwy gydag ar hyn o bryd e.e. Dolgellau.

Mae ei leoliad yn golygu mynediad hawdd i’r maes yn ogystal â chyfleusterau chwaraeon eraill o’r ysgolion, stadau tai a chanol y dref. Mi fydd hyn yn golygu caiff y prosiect ei fwynhau gan nifer o blant a phobl ifanc yr ardal, yn ogystal â theuluoedd sy’n ymweld am ddegawdau i ddod.

Hoffwn ofyn yn garedig am eich cymorth a gofyn i chi bleidleisio am Barc Heol y Castell ar ddiwrnod y bleidlais, sef y 26ain o Dachwedd 2014.

Diolch!
