Studley Wildlife Trail (Wilts and Berks Canal Trust)

The project will create a wildlife corridor with standing water habitat and with a multi-use path. A kilometre of canal banks will be planted with a variety of hedging, scrubs and wild flowers aiming to provide food and shelter for wild bees, insects and for water voles and wildfowl. Benches and leaning posts will be provided so people can enjoy this peaceful haven. Bat and bird boxes will be installed to encourage a variety of species. This will provide a traffic free route for walking and cycling.

This is a great project. A lot of work has been undertaken to get to this point. It will be a great corridor for both people and wildlife.

A fantastic project which deserves our support. It will allow more people to enjoy our beautiful countryside, within walking distance of Royal Wootton Bassett, and also encourage and create wildlife environments.

This is a brilliant project, and part of an amazingly bold and imaginative scheme to revive an abandoned canal. It deserves the widest support and encouragement.

Let’s make this part of Wiltshire somewhere for everyone to enjoy every day at no charge. A place for educating about the wonderful nature that surrounds us all the whole year round.
