Our Project “Active Playgrounds” aims to improve our playground, by extending our existing garden, installing some fixed and flexible play materials as well as creating a range of play and learning zones. The areas will provide opportunities for meaningful play activities and outdoor learning and will encourage local wildlife and plants.
Outdoor learning and play is important for the children of Holytown Primary School and the wider community of Holytown. The children have asked for this project and their ideas have been fully incorporated into the designs. The children and the local community are vital for the success of this project, in terms of its creation, maintenance and ultimately its success.
For our pupils to be involved in quality play activities we would see their self esteem to grow and develop as well as their skills and abilities in the outdoors, just imagine how beneficial it would be for our nursery children to learn to ride their bikes in the playground.
Pupils and volunteers from the local community and the Community Payback Team will be involved in creating the outdoor space.
This project is about the playground but more importantly it is about the relationships and skills gained as a result, we want our pupils to have experiences to last a lifetime. It is about the whole community working with each other and ultimately, it is a space for all to learn and play together safely.
A vote for us is a vote for your children’s future!
