We all know the sense of peace and joy that nature and watching wildlife offers. We probably also all know someone who faces barriers to accessing and enjoying nature whether through age, mobility issue or dementia. Our Window On The Wild Project will work with 20 Residential Care Homes to overcome those barriers creating bird feeding stations in the care home grounds so residents can feed and watch the birds from the safety and comfort of their homes. We will install nest box cameras and provide, binoculars, bird knitting patterns, wildlife card making resources and other engaging wildlife activities. The project will provide opportunities for everyone in the community to get involved. Schools will visit for children to build bird boxes and engage with the residents, bringing together people of all ages and culminating in a Christmas activity event bringing the community together.
